Under his leadership, Wetumpka has reduced debt, invested in first responders, improved infrastructure, and welcomed new growth while preserving our small-town charm.

Jerry Willis has served as mayor of Wetumpka since 2008, leading the city through challenges and delivering steady, thoughtful progress. A lifelong resident and dedicated public servant, he believes in hard work, accountability, and putting people first.

During his tenure in office, Wetumpka has undergone significant transformation. From strengthening the city’s financial position to completing major capital improvements such as a new fire station and sports complex, Mayor Willis has focused on projects that improve the quality of life for all residents. Under the mayor’s guidance, the city has continued to make major investments in local schools, supporting educational programs, infrastructure improvements, and partnerships that benefit students and families across the community.

He led the city through the recovery from the 2019 tornado and the COVID-19 pandemic. His leadership helped turn these difficult moments into opportunities for growth and resilience. His efforts also helped bring HGTV’s “Home Town Takeover” to Wetumpka, which sparked national attention and renewed interest in the city’s downtown and tourism economy.
